Egyptian scroll

The president of the company where I do weekend work went on a trip to Egypt. While there, he picked up various Egyptian picture scrolls. Most of the workers have them hanging on their walls, so I took pictures of them and will show them on my blog at different times.

The Wedding

The bride was pretty, the groom was handsome, the decorations were in place, the food was being prepared, the weather was cooperating (somewhat), the Rev was at his best and the parents were there, what could possibly go wrong, I ask you , what could possibly go wrong....nothing, nada, nyet. Everything went off without a hitch. There were a couple miscues, but they were quickly remedied. The only other obstacle was the heat, it had to be 95 degrees outside. Thank goodness for shade. I had some shade but I knew I was going to need more. I went to my neighbors and they generously provided more .
I didn't think that my daughter could get any prettier, but she did. She looked gorgeous and the groom was handsome. Hard to beat that combination.
It was nice to see all of Celena's immediate family here. Even her great aunt came in from Bakersfield. As a side note, Bakersfield is located in a desert, but I gotta believe that it was probably cooler there than it was here. The heat here was incredible.
It was nice to see Tijan's parents, Gary and Althea, who flew in from the east coast. Also flying in from Atlanta was his sister Robyn and her daughter Keyera.
As usual, below are some photos.

The wedding eve

It's Friday night and I've met the parents of my son-in-law and I'm impressed. What a fantastic couple. The mother is warm and charming and the father is genuine and almost as funny as me, maybe funnier if that's possible. I spent a lot of time talking to the father. What a history he has to share. He and a friend went to Woodstock 40 years ago and spent 2 days there in the rain and the mud. He came to watch his friend, Ritchie Havens, perform. He met all of the early great performers, Temptations, Drifters etc, etc. In his college years, one of his roommates father was a promoter or organizer (I'm not sure), of the early rock and roll groups. The friends father got him a job at the Apollo as a go-fer and that's where he met a lot of performers.
We started setting up the trestle for the next day wedding, below are some photos.

On a side note, this morning, as I'm writing my blog, I'm nervous, anxious and excited, and I'm not the one getting married. I still have a lot of work to do to prepare my yard, for the friends and family that will be arriving later. Today is all about my daughter. Whatever help she needs or job done, it will happen. The only job that I need to mentally prepare for is the officiating at the wedding ceremony. I hope I don't blow it. Other than that, I will be at my daughters beckon call. For I am The Rev and a father; and today, the father supercedes The Rev.

OBTW, found out yesterday that my daughter is having a Boy. Can't wait!

24hr MickeeDee

On weekends, when I drive to my 2nd job, I go in around 3 or 4 am. I always stop by a McDonald on the way there and pick up a large coffee. The place where I work at has one of those cappuccino makers which I have no clue how to use, so I bring my own. This one morning I decided to get a picture of their drive through window.
On a side note, tonight I will be meeting my daughters fiance's parents for the first time. I'm a little apprehensive but if they are anything close to what their son is like, I know that I will like them right away.
The wedding is tomorrow, the butterflies in my stomach have morphed to birds. I know that everything will go well, how could it not? It's my little girls wedding and I will make it go well. Besides, I'm the Rev.

Antenna Ornament

In my usual search to find things to photograph, I thought it would be fun to photograph antenna ornaments, I think that's what they're referred as. So, I will be interspersing these pictures ever now and then. On a side note, I can't believe that I came up with that word, interspersing.

Faceless waiter

As I have stated previously, the founder of my company is an avid collector of paintings. This one was just hung up in our kitchen.

This bell seems out of place but actually it was used, in my weekend job, to signal any time a new orders that has been posted.

Psychedelic

A few years back I took a picture of a group of Iris and then I did some adjustments in photoshop. The picture below is a result of a few photoshop tweaks. The picture underneath that is the original picture. I was probably in a 60's mind frame when I did this modification.

Blast from the Past...

What a surprise when I opened my email this morning, my friend, Don, sent me a picture that he took in 1968. Actually, he emailed me several pictures and I choose to put this one on my blog. I don't recall who the ladies were but I do recognize my 1962 Buick, carnation pink car. I drove my Buick from Chicago to Milpitas. It was a great car, I wish I would have kept it, but no, I traded it in and got 1969 Charger 440 R/T. Oh well, can't dwell on the past for too long.

The Rev

Couple weeks ago my daughter, who is getting married next weekend, told me that it would cost $80 to get married at city hall and the going rate for anyone to come over our house to marry was around $250. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I got on the web and located a ministry and within a few minutes, I was an ordained minister. I sent in $55 and got my California package, which included credentials, marriage vows book, a couple marriage certificates and a wallet id. So, next weekend, I will officiate her wedding. I only did what any normal dad would do to help their daughter keep expenses down. You know what, I think I do see a halo over my head. Go in peace my children.

Mexican Pastries

One of my favorites eats is Pan Dulce, which is Mexican bread. The bread is light and not too sweet, just right with my morning coffee. Below is a picture taken from my favorite place to buy Mexican pastries, The Pink Elephant. The pastries are colorful and really good to eat.

Caribou

One of the ladies at work has a couple of Caribou bobble heads. My mind started whirling and I came up with this idea for a layout. I found some bubble wrap and laid it next to a Canada poster and voila, below is the culmination.

Eiffel Tower

This is an ornament that rests on the desk of the president & CEO of ESG Consulting, a company that I do work on a part time basis. With the sun shining from the windows, it illuminates the tower nicely.

PP

OK, I've had a lot of requests for this picture....not really. These are the urinals in the building that I work in on weekends. They are clean and don't have a foul smell, for this, I am glad.

I like to take a lot of pictures of different items and things. I will try to post something daily. So tune in, you may find something interesting, stupid, weird or totally insane.
Below is a picture of high tension electrical wires at where I work.

Happy Birthday Seann!!! 1 Year Old

Last weekend went to a birthday party for Seann, he is 1 year old. I cannot describe how good the food was, it was great and everyone had nothing but praise. The theme was Hawaii and they even brought in some Hawaiian dancers which really added to the theme.

Tijan in the pool with Irelan and her new friend Dillon.

Irelan giving Dillon the eye.

Irelan and Dillon having ice creme before the start of the party.

The party cake. From what I heard, it was pretty good, checkerboard chocolate and vanilla and creme.

One of the young dancers at the party. Very pretty young lady.

The guy dancers who also provided the music for the other dancers. The music and sounds are just great. They really give the dancing an added dimension.

Some of the young lady dancers.

Little Irelan and her mom

The picture says it all

Little Irelan eating her cake

The birthday Kahuna and his parents

Some more pretty dancers.

The dancers invited the audience to participate in the dance. They came down to where we were sitting and invited us to come on stage. If you didn't recognize it, the guy with the big ass in the middle of the picture is me. I think they had to use a special wide angle lens to get this shot.

Pretty Arial doing her thing.
